Neurodiversity
Many people who come to therapy are neurodivergent, yet neurodivergence is still often under-recognised in mainstream mental health settings. Without a clear neuro-affirmative understanding, clients can be misunderstood or given formulations that don’t quite fit, which can lead to approaches that feel unhelpful or even invalidating.
I have a particular interest in working with neurodivergent clients—whether autism, ADHD, AuDHD, dyslexia, or OCD—bringing together psychotherapy, nervous system support, and a functional medicine-informed approach. I offer neuro-affirmative support grounded in lived understanding, and take the time to celebrate the strengths alongside the struggles of being neurodiverse. I offer a collaborative space rooted in mutual understanding and shaped around what works best for you. There is no expectation to communicate or engage in a particular way—sessions can be structured and goal-focused, or they can offer a slower, reflective space. We can adjust the pace and focus to suit your needs.
Whether you are questioning whether you are neurodivergent, coming to terms with a recent diagnosis, or wanting to understand how neurodivergence influences your relationships, work, or wellbeing, I offer a space to explore this with clarity and care. We might look at patterns of stress or masking, work towards recognising early signs of overwhelm or burnout, and explore practical ways to reduce stress and build resilience. The aim is not to change you, but to help life feel more balanced, sustainable, and authentic.
Neurodivergence can often come with co-occuring conditions such as fatigue, sensory dys-regulation, heightened anxiety, mood fluctuations, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, migraines, hypermobility, eldors and attention-related or behavioural difficulties. Where relevant, functional psychiatry support can help reduce some of the physiological drivers that can amplify these experiences.
